Spring planting is best in most cases. However, you can plant in fall and expect your plants to survive a harsh winter. Four keys to keep in mind:
- Make sure you select plants appropriate and preferably native to your zone
- Start early fall (Sept-Oct best)
- Plant in a well prepared hole . Football should sit slightly above grade. We recommend 50%each mix of native soil and composted manure. (Be sure not to lick fingers when done lol)
- Triple stake with tall (3-5ft) engineer stakes so that root ball will not move in a strong storm.
